Default Sick Leo

[FONhttp://www.geckosunlimited.com/community/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifT="Comic Sans MS"][/font]
Hi everyone! I found this site when I was trying to find out why my baby Leopard Gecko won't eat! She has a blue spot on her tummy. I keep her habitat at 85-90 degrees & the humidity between 40 & 60. I also keep a wet hide on the warm side of her cage. I use terrarium moss for that. On the cool side, she has a cool hide. It's a coconut shell cut in half. I've tried meal worms & baby crickets. I gut load the crickets & dust them with calcium. I also keep some calcium/vitamin mix in her cage! Am I doing something wrong or is she sick? Any help with this would be much appreciated!

I've had her about 3 weeks. I'm not sure how old she is but she's still very little.

Sounds as if you are doing many things right!

Just a few pointers:
Use a feeding dish for crickets and mealworms. Loose prey should not be crawling around the tank. Can cause stress for the gecko.

Young leopard geckos are not good hunters. To slow down the crickets (and to keep them in the feeding dish), cut off the back legs of the crickets at the "knees" so they don't jump out of the dish.

The moist (not wet) hide should be on the cool side of her tank. What is the temperature of the cool side?

What substrate is she on? Are you dusting her prey with a phosphorous-free calcium powder with D3? I like the Rep-Cal brand.

Please read: http://www.geckosunlimited.com/commu...ote=1&p=287076 for a firsthand account of a sand impaction in a leopard gecko which proved fatal despite the best first aid.
