Default jpstodwftexas: 40 Gallon Breeder Arid set up

Started with this..a 40 Gallon Breeder tank

and this a Universal Rock Background

and here is the Happy Inhabitant

As Always the Tank was clean before starting the process. The Background was checked and there were gaps on either side. I filled those gaps with 1/2 Blue Insulation Board.

I used Brown GE II 100% Silicone to adhere the Background and cover the Blue Insulation. The silicone was covered with RED SAND and everything was allowed to dry before standing Up right.
I siliconed the back half of the Top in place.

I selected the following plants to use.

"Green Goddess", Echeveria 'Haagenna'
"Kalanchoe blossfeldiana"
"Calico Hearts", Adromischus maculatus
"Sunrise Plant", Anacampseros telephiastrum variegata
Echeveria Black Prince
Sedum rubrotinctum cv. 'Aurora'
Haworthia resendeanna
"mini Blue Chaulk Fingers" senecio species 'mini Blue'
Crassula picturata
'Perle von Nurnberg' Echeveria Perle von Nernberg

All require same growing light conditions except the Haworthia resendeanna and "Calico Hearts", Adromischus maculatus. They require filtered, I may remove them.

I discovered the Universal Rock products at the Arlington NARBC. The Distributor sent me to my LocaL Shop which orders them for me.

US Distributor

Look at the Map If the State you live in is Yellow Highlighted. Click it and it will list Retailers in your Area.

In the future, use black or brown silicone to cover the glass where you are going to have an unnatural filler fill holes. That way, it looks at least all one color, or hopefully as a cross section of the habitat.
