A waterfall is a bad idea for a chameleon, especially if you think he is going to be drinking from it.

Waterfalls naturally harbor bacteria and unless you plan on giving the waterfall atleast one deep cleaning per day, and still having a chance it harbors bacteria still, I would not recommend it.

Also, may I ask your humidity and temperature levels, and what are you using as a substrate. Do you cup feed, hand feed, or free range your feeders?

Many people are highly against substrate for chameleons, but I think that with the correct precautions most of the risk of accidental ingestion can be avoided. One of those precautions could be to cup feed him. If you don't plan to, make sure the soil is not loose and that there isn't anything like bark in it.

There is a really good forum, with great information if you know how to pick through some of the crap that is unavoidable in any forum, that you should look through and ask any questions you may have about chameleons. The forums is Chameleon Forums

Good luck with your chameleon, he sure is handsome!

Dont use glass, or substrate, or a waterfall, or a water bowl, and take the light out of the cage.

If the light is in the cage, it will get burned. Put it over top of the cage.

Sorry the pic is sideways. I have 2 lights because Canada is so cold, but I removed one, because of her eggs (didn't realise how many eggs she'd get). You also need a UVB tube. ReptiSun 5.0 is best.

In case anyone is still following this thread...

Nice looking Vivarium! Any current pictures of the complete setup?

My two cents:

I agree with Steve, the light needs to be where the cham cant really get near it. They will sit as close to it as they are able, even if it is way to hot. I had a veiled once that was able to get onto the screen top, it turned upside down and hung directly below the Powersun UVB lamp. She got burned pretty bad, but survived. Now I make sure the the light is raised off of the top screen so this is not possible.

I keep my chameleons over a deep layer of garden bark (large peices of bark that cannot be ingested) so that I can spray it down and keep the humidity up in the screen enclosure. What is the point of setting up a nice looking Naturalistic Viv if you are going to put paper towels in the bottom?

Your chameleon WILL use the waterfall as a bathroom and, Like the others have said, it will culture massive amounts of bacteria which will make your lizard sick if it drinks the water.
