Default Why do gargs change colour?

Hi everyone

I only just got my Garg a few weeks ago so I am still learning about him (or her!)

I just noticed that he has recently gone from a dark brown to a light cream colour then back to a dark colour again. I have read on the net that this is what they do so i'm not worried, but I was just curious as to why they do this? Every where on the net gives a bit of a confusing explanation!

Thanks

xx

They can change colors for many reasons, including but not limited to: stress, blending with background, excited, sick....once you have your garg for a while you can tell from there personality why they change colors. Mine usually do it to blend with their background or when they are having a staring contest with another garg.

They also use it to regulate their temperature . When it is hot my auriculatus are always in te "white fase" and in winter they are always dark

Thanks for that!! The net can be a bit confusing sometimes!

I was also curious as to how to see if they are healthy or not? I keep getting told off by my partner for being like a maternal mother haha, but I want to make sure he is healthy and happy!!

He seems ok, he wanders around his tank and is eating a pooping like normal but how do I see if his bones are healthy?

Being a good gecko parents means we always worry about our little ones health. Proper diet, enclosure/housing, and humidity are the main concerns. If you feed a balanced diet like Rapashy CGD then you shouldn't have to worry about malnutrition or metabolic bone disease; proper enclosure/housing will help prevent stress and hopefully prevent injuries (though accidents can happen); and proper humidity will prevent dehydration and respiratory issues. If you didn't worry, then it wod be hard to tell when there is an actual problem.
