Default Crested eggs

Hello,

I have had an adult trio of ciliatus for over a year now,( as well as leachys, chahoua and snakes)

My females produce regular clutches of eggs but I cannot hatch them..

I have no trouble with williamsi eggs, tokay eggs, endless snake eggs, but cresty eggs always seem to collapse ?

I have followed the guidelines in the two foremost books on the subject, Henkel and vosjolli/repashy

The animals are in excellent health, calcium supplemented. Fed on a diet of Clarks/repashy and insects.

I am using the same happy herp incubator I have successfully used for tons of other herps.

I have used soil, vermiculite, perlite and mixtures of three as incubation material.

Incubator temp is 26 degrees..

Any ideas folks??

I'm assuming that temp is 26 degress celcius, which would make it about 78 degrees fahrenheit, right? If so, that should be fine. I don't incubate my eggs, because our house is kept at 75 degrees fahrenheit. I have always used vermiculite, and I never have any trouble at all with my eggs hatching. Whatever substrate you are incubating them in needs to be kept moist. I have eggs begin to collapse if I don't find them quickly enough, but they plump right back up with moisture. Other than that, the only thing I can figure is your male may be shooting blanks. Crested eggs should be very easy to hatch if kept at a good temp with plenty of moisture.
