Default Beginner Questions about Gargoyle Geckos

I had a couple questions about Gargoyle Geckos. Can Gargoyle Geckos live solely on CGD? I'm perfectly fine with crickets, but I just figured it's easier if I can only use CGD. Also, what is the weight they're hatched at and what's a general weight that most gargoyle's stay at as an adult? I've heard that they have great personalities. Is this true?

Thanks guys!
Ryan

Each gargoyle has a unique personality, which makes them very addicting. Gargoyles can be feed CGD as their only food source. Then as a special treat you can offered fresh fruit or dusted crickets if you wanted to.

Gargoyle weights/lengths can vary depending on their genetics; best way to tell how big them may get is from the size of their parents.

My babies have hatched out between 1.7-2.9grams. Our adults range between 45-72g and between 8 3/4"-9 1/2" long. I have read of some female breeders reaching into the low 90g, but I think the majority of adults are between 50-70g.

Thanks so much! Also, by any chance, do you know what the humidity should stay around, and how often do you need to spray them in a place that stays around 50% humidity? Will they drink out of a water bowl?

All of mine drink from a water bowl. They recommend humidity between 75% after misting down to about 50% during the day; you want the substrate to dry out a little between mistings so no mold can develop. I have found my gargoyles prefer their humidity between 65-45%. I mist mine at nighttime before I go to bed. Everybody's home holds humidity differently, especially if a furnace is running in the winter time.

I'd recommend getting a digital temp/humidity gauge to measure the humidity/temp levels for your gecko & check it several times a day in the beginning so you know how the humidity in your home is to determine how much & how often you'll need to mist. You can get some really good ones at Lowes/Home Depot garden center area...I use the Acu-Rite 00613 indoor humidity monitor ($13) and it has been very accurate for me.

Default Gargoyles vs Cresteds and Chahoua

Hi,

I'm toying with getting one of these guys for my 10 yr old son for Christmas. He's been begging me for a reptile for some time - snake or gecko... Well, I don't kill mice so a snake is not high on my list. I'm also not enthused about crickets, but the CGD sounds fantastic and I can deal with bloodworms too if that's something they can eat. I just don't want crickets in my house. I've spent a week researching, but thought I'd get some opinions from actual owners rather than more marketing. I've read the Chahouas have great temperaments and love to be out which is a great fit for kids. True? Can they eat CGD only? I've met and held a couple Cresteds - really liked the first guy the second was a spaz so I totally get meeting them in person and choosing temperament/personality. The Gargoyles have come up as well. My local store likes the Cresteds - haven't gotten my hands on the other two yet. We have Repticon in Dec, but I'd honestly like to know what I'm doing well before 12/18... So, if you know all three could you give me your opinions on personality and care differences/similarities? Thanks! Oh and I prefer a bit mellower - not as likely to escape. If it gets out of the office and into the main part of the house it will be dog chow and that's not acceptable... My dog eats aneoles daily in our yard - she wouldn't distinguish between them and our pet.
