Default Dehumidifier - Would this be safe?

I am running in to some issues here in Germany which I never ran in to while living in the USA and that is mold. Here the majority of houses are built of concrete, no clue if this has much to do with it, but yeah we are getting mold in some of the rooms above the windows since our landlord installed new thicker windows (many gaps were left above the window shutter boxes, which I am still trying to fix/seal). Despite opening the windows for an hour during the day, we are getting mold issues in two of our rooms. One room had to be closed off for awhile, so I can understand the issue in this room, but our bedroom door never gets closed, so I cannot pinpoint it to anything else really but the new windows are just too weather proof. :P

Either way, I was thinking of purchasing a dehumidifier, but I am worried if I run this that it will also suck the humidity out of the tanks resulting in death for the geckos & few frogs I have.

Does anyone use one of these?

I don't know that it will result in the death of your geckos...but, if you run a dehumidifier, it will indeed dehumidify everything in the room including your herp enclosures. Depending on what you have for herps, what their enclosures are like, and what their particular needs are for humidity, you may need to change your set ups to accommodate this change. It may be as simple as misting a bit more than usual, or perhaps investing in a quality misting system, or making their enclosures so that they retain more humidity. Also, the farther away the dehumidifier is from the herps, the less it will affect them. So perhaps place it somewhere that still does the job you need it to do, without being too close to the geckos to affect them too much.

I figured as much, but hey it is good to double check sometimes. I think i will try out this anti mold paint I purchased and continue opening the windows to see if this solves the issue.
