Default Temp. Problems

I can't get the temp's in my 12x12x12 exo-terra cage to go past 77-78 F. I am worried my gecko (coming Tuesday) is going to freeze to death. I have 2 florescent, 1 none UVB, the other is. BUT the UVB is older then 6 months, so maybe a switch to a newer bulb will up the temp.? I don't want to add a basking light, because I have no where to hang it. And me placing it on top the cage will make the temp go way past what it is supposed to. Any idea's?

P.S. its a Lygodactylus williamsi

edit: scratch this thread, I was taking the temps when I first turned on the lights for the day. So the temps were still around the night temps (73-75) It is now up to a constant 83.3, raises a few degrees when misted (humidity?) and from reading this care guide:Lygodactylus Williamsi these temps are ok yes?

Use a remote-probe thermometer and measure the temperature on your highest basking branch. Use a new UVB fluorescent--they need to be replaced every 6 months, or they no longer produce enough UVB--these lizards need UVB.

If the temp on your basking branch is 90ish, it will be probably be fine. Otherwise, get an undertank heater, and a rheostat, and stick it on the back of the tank. Adjust it so the temp in contact with the back (or backdrop) is about 90F. That should help raise your overall temps.
