Female
Default Sphaerodactylus escape and recovery

A bit late in posting this, but the other day my female Sphaerodactylus notatus escaped. On the day I noticed her missing i was not sure if she had gotten out that day or the day before.

What happened was the screen had peeled away from the lid of the temp box I made for her allowing for her escape.

I must have searched on and off for almost 4 hours for her in our livingroom where she was kept.

We have wood floors and in a few sections there is holes in the floorboards to either allow for pipes to enter or simply where the boards cracked apart over the years the house has been here.

When I had finally given up hope i went in to the bathroom to get cleaned up from all the spider webs i had to wade through and there she was! She was trying to scale the side of our bathtub, which did not work out so well and she just landed back to the floor.

The little bugger made a 5 meter journey through the house and managed to do so without being caught by our four cats. :O

wow that was lucky. That makes you wonder if your cats could survive in the wild

I have an exoterra terrarium with L. williamsi's in. My cats are very nosy and once one of them tampered with the sliding panels in the back (those that allow for cords to enter or leave the terra) and she dragged the sliding panel all the way back.

I think it must have happened durring the day where I at night when I was feeding noticed that I could really find all my 4 geckos in there. I found one on the side of the lamp covering the terrarium (where both cats enjoy to lie and relax large parts of the day) and the other one I didn't find til the evening after where she was near the sealing on top of a Trivial Persuit game.

So I was lucky here as well, both escaped geckos where recovered despite of loose cats howering in the area a lot of the time.
