Default Female cant stick to anything!

I just recently purchased a pair of williamsi and I have been noticing the female cant stick to the walls and has trouble getting up the leaves and stuff in the terrarium. I have also noticed some sort of abnormality in her back leg but it looks like she can use it.

Why is this?

Thanks,

Jorge Lopez

I would say that probably she is getting ready to shed and that is the reason she can't climb. This be the same problem you are noticing on her hind leg.

Are you able to take a picture of her leg?

As williamsi_fan said she is probably getting ready to shed or is stuck in shed. Being stuck in shed is a common problem after newly being imported.

You can try a soak in shallow warm water. This will usually help loosen any stuck skin. Or you can try raising the humidity levels over the next days.

As you are in the USA captive bred specimens are very rare. These two articles by me may be of interest to you, especially if you are considering breeding them. It talks about care, as well as how to condition your female for breeding.

I looked at the pics you sent and it looks like she has a fairly good amount of stuck shed on her feet. It also looks to be stuck on the tail a pinch.

With the angle she is at in the pictures it is hard to tell for sure if she is pregnant, but to me she does look a little pear like, so it could be she recently did get pregnant.

I strongly recommend going out and getting some cuttlefish bone and offering her a little bit of it crushed up in case she is pregnant. Since she is WC she will need this or she may pass short after laying eggs. In general it is good to offer the crushed up cuttlefish bone at all times (changed weekly).

She hs had the cuttlebone. I am pretty sure that is what is caught in her feet and tail. But I have noticed that she is kind of getting better with the whole climbing thing so it might of been the shed. But hopefully she is pregnant like you said.

Thanks
