Exclamation L williamsi is dying HELP

My probable male L williamsi has been in great shape and is always super active, but yesterday I noticed that it was particularly bloated/fat which is odd considering I haven't fed crickets in 2 days. Anyways, its been lethargic, disoriented and has been falling off plants, been a dark shade of green and its breathing looks abnormal.

Today was worse, i kept finding him in weird positions almost as if hes lying down on his belly, looks dead so i took him and put him into quarantine...and after a few minutes with an increase in temperature, he seemed better.

I just came home and saw the poor guy on his back, limbs extended upwards almost as if trying to grab hold of something but still breathing. I have him a warm soak and put him back in the viv on a plant all the way under the basking light...Im really nervous I think hes on his way out.

Temps are about 22 celcius, been feeding banana/honey mixture and pin heads and humidity is around 90%

I'm sorry to hear. I had a leopard gecko that died about 3 weeks ago and she was behaving exactly how you described what was happening with your lizard. She was very bloated, I gave her warm soaks and she flipped over on her back, she tried spitting up but she just stopped breathing one night.... A store called Scales and Tails told me that what caused her to become bloated was bad digestion. When she didn't digest the food properly it gets backed up and can cause an infection in the stomach. My gecko died because something was blocking her air way. We think it was when she tried to spit up and it just got caught up. Makes me sad that something so simple made me lose her.

I am sorry for your loss!

I would recommend a necropsy so you can check for any internal parasites and know the exact cause for death.

May your Lygodactylus williamsi rest in peace. So sorry.

Any chance you could have him tested for internal parasites as Maureen has suggested?

Best bet is to check with a vet's office.

And don't forget to refrigerate the body so it remains as fresh as possible before sending to a lab!

I'm sorry that your gecko died, but the first thing to do when you notice such a drastic change in behaviour and breathing is to call a vet. As you learned the hard way, the next day was worse.
