Default Male Williamsi more green than blue

Hi all. My male Williamsi is more of a green colour than blue, just wondering why that might be.

He is kept in a Exo terra 18X18X24 planted viv and is currently in there on his own (was supposed to get a female with him but store mixed up sexing and now can't find one). Could him being on his own in quite a big viv be it?

He is kept under 5.0uvb 26 watt bulbs.

He is fed baby roaches(dusted), clarks gecko diet and given fruit to lick. He is very active and appears happy just doesn't go blue.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance hexentanz!

Is it possible they may have shipped you a female by mistake?

There is a few reasons that come to mind that a male could appear green;

1.) He is being suppressed by another male.
2.) It is simply a young male
3.) Lighting is off.

Since you have no other gecko in the tank with him 2 and 3 will be what to look for next.

Thanks for the suggestions, i've tried a few different combinations of lighting and it doesn't appear to have made any difference.

He is still young, less than a year old i believe. He has plenty of black on his throat so pretty sure it is a he.

Can't believe the amount of difficulty i'm having tracking down a young lady for him, reckon i'm going to have to wait till next March or so which is a shame.

Less than a year old could explain things. I got a young one right now which is still pretty green, some days more blue, but mainly greenish. This one is 7 months old.

Is it possible for you take a clear pic of the underside of the gecko at all?

A friend of me had a male turn blue after a year of owning it.

Yeah that sounds similiar to mine, i'm suprised at how much they do change colour. He's normally quite dark just as the lights go on and then most of the day is a lovely green. I don't know if its my imagination but sometimes after giving him food i think he looks more blue.

I was told he was 6months to a year old when i got him, captive bred from Germany although he came with red mites so not sure how true that was?

I only have a camera on my mobile phone and the quality isn't very good.

Also, i have only ever seen him stuck to the side of the glass once, he spends most of his time hanging out on vines etc. Don't know if he just prefers that?

It is possible he was indeed captive bred. Just because it is captive doesn't mean it will be free of mites or another other parasite sadly. I learned this the hard way myself with another type of gecko I have. Took months to get rid of the mites!! There is just certain ones which do not want to leave. :/
