Default Role reversal in L. picturatus

Hi all,

In my recently established L. picturatus tank, I was initially worried that my female was remaining dull and shy, and wondered if she would regain her color...(this thread How can you tell the difference between L. luteupicturatus and L. capensis?)

Now, the female has brightened up so she is almost as bright as the male. BUT, she has also gotten very territorial toward the male, and has "ousted" him from the top levels of the cage and the prime basking spots.

Should I worry about this, and is there any way to make her more "receptive" to him?

Thanks in advance,

N

My female is like this toward my male as well. Sometimes even in the animal world females can be quite bit**y to males. If it starts to look very bad try separating them a bit.

Could just be she is not interested in mating yet.
