Default Red Mites

Today I got a shipment of my girdled and neon gliding lizards. Instead of the neon gliding, I got an electric blue gecko baby. I don't know much about them but went ahead and put them in the cage set up for the neon gliding lizards. A care sheet on your website talked about the red mites. I see one mite on his neck but he is already in his cage. Should I bathe him since he is already in the cage? Will the mites spread inside the cage? What do I bathe him with?

There is quite a few different opinions how to go about treating mites. My best advice would be to use the search feature so we can try and keep all info to as few a topics as possible to make it easier on others to search for in the future.

I have encounter this problem with a few that I had picked up at a local pet store. The best way I have found to get rid of these is to use Olive oil and a q-tip. Dip the q-tip in the oil and place a small drop where you see the mite. The oil is thick enough that it will cut the air supply to the mite and they will die and fall off. You may need to do this a couple of times. The other way that I have gotten rid of mites is to use predator mites. You need to buy a culture of these mites mite and put them in your tank. But I have found the Olive oil trick works the best.
