Default Lepidodactylus lugubris viv mates?

Hello everyone,

Picked up two of these gals yesterday at a reptile show and have them in a nice vivarium that was setup last night, 20 long fully plant scaped. I was just wondering about viv mates for these gals? I plan to put some cork bark caves in so they can lay their eggs and have a little more security, right now they are hanging out in the plants or on the undersides of the drift wood in there.

I was trying to find a small species of day gecko to put in with them. I was looking at some electric blues (Lygodactylus williamsi) for another vivarium but considered keeping them together since their needs tend to be the same. The only issue I seem to find is that the electric blues tend to be larger, so I don't want any predation between species going on in there.

I plan to have some pics up soon of at least the vivarium, and if I can get a good shot of the little gals who blend in too well with the viv.

Thanks!

Side note:

Feeding these gals, I'm using a Crested gecko powder mix, as well as planning on adding some crickets this week. I was just wondering if black worms (generally used in aquariums) would be fine since they are a sort of small terrestrial worm.

Hi Tihsho ~

Remember that Lls will eat their babies if hungry or bored or if the babies don't have enough hiding places.

Have you heard them chirp?

Enjoy .

I had Some Dart frogs in with my Lls, and they did fine because the frogs were to big to eat but too small to eat the Lls, and they both will eat fruit flies. You could also keep Green anoles in with them I did that for awhile, but I separated them because I think it's just fun to see the Lls interact with one another. They didn't show their true behavior in with the Anoles because they were a little afraid of them.

I personally wouldn't mix in L. williamsi. They might be a bit hostile towards the other species. From what I have heard from other keepers they are a bit more aggressive even towards other lygo species. You might be able to get by, but you would have to get used to each species individual needs.

As for keeping some PDFs with them, I have seen quite a few people keep them with geckos, so the only danger I might see is the frogs snacking on any hatchlings, though a lot of them only eat things the size of fruit flies.

So what ever you decide to do, ALOT of research needs to be put into any and all species you are looking at. Sorry, I probably helped in no way what-so-ever.

Sorry.
