Default Holodactylus africanus

Need a little advise on my trio of Holo's(wc). I've had them a little over a week now. Since i placed them in their tank, they disapeared under ground. They hadn't resurfaced, and i couldn't find any obvious burrow openings, and food was still running around. Fearing the worst, i dug them up and found all three fit and well but non looked any chubbier. I then placed them in a small tub and offered them food. The two females ate like there was no tomorrow, where as the male only took one minimealie. It would seem once they'd burried themselves, they chose not to surface for food. I'm now looking at housing them seperately with 2" of substrate so i can monitor their food intake. Is this the way forward with these little critters? Have i got them set up right?(set up explained in previous thread)
Any comment will be appreciated

When I first got mine, I didn't see them for a few weeks. I know they were out and about at night because I saw tunnels all over the place. I just made sure there were a few crickets running around and hoped for the best. The crickets had lots of food available so they weren't starved. After about a month the geckos would come out after the room lights were dimmed, barely bright enough to watch them. Once they were settled in enough, they are readily enough. I made sure to feed them very late in the evening, before going to bed, so that the crickets didn't have time to groom the supplements off.
Mine were WC as well, surprisingly, they tested negative for parasites. If yours haven't been checked, it might be a good idea since parasites could be one reason for them not eating.

If they have the proper temperature gradient, humid sand to bury into, and some time to adjust, they should come around in a few weeks. A lot of them are so stressed and dehydrated by the time they get to the hobbyist that they can't recover. From what I've been able to find out, dehydration is the biggest problem with WC, once they get over that, the rest should be easy.

Default H. africanus

Big thankyou for putting my mind at rest. They've started to come out fairly regular now, and the boy is bold as brass as he's up and about at dusk actively hunting. I've read these are quite short lived, has this changed since they first appeared some years ago?
