Pristurus carteri pair
In my "updating the website" series of photoshoots, I thought I'd post my pair of Pristurus carteri or "Scorpion geckos". Really cool and alert little geckos. Unfortunately both of them dropped their tails (one of their unique features) in shipping and have regenerated tails that will never be as good as new. The female has dropped a couple of infertile eggs, and the pair has now been put together. Fingers crossed.

I really think that those guys are awesome looking geckos. It's a shame that they aren't more popular. Put me on the list for when you start producing.

Hi Gary ~
A consolation might be that their offspring will have nice tails! Are they super-sensitive to this loss while shipping...best be picked up?

I really hesitate to give "care advice" for a species I've only kept for several months. I'm far from an expert on this species, but I hope to have success and learn from them. They are CB and came to me as sexable juveniles. So far they are doing well in a desert setup. They come from a pretty harsh environment, so I have tried to replicate that with a hot spot of 90º or higher and UV. I lightly mist a couple of times a week. Although I don't feed mealworms often, those seem to elicit the strongest feeding response from amongst the foods I've tried.
They were on my "wanted list" for quite some time. I'm very pleased to have them, and hope to be able to successfully reproduce them.

There's a few other people on here working with them as well. If you're looking for information on them, you might want to do a search here on the forums for older threads.

Thanks to both of you -sciteacher, I suppose you dust mealworms with Vitamins/Minerals? What are you using for this and how often?
Ethan, I will definitely search further

I use Repashy Calcium Plus ICB at every feeding with all of my geckos. It has worked well for me.
