Thumbs up lepidodactylus Lugubris Hatchling - Help

Hey guys,
I haven't written any longer texts in english for quite a while, but I chose this Forum over german forums just because I found more helpful and interesting threads here... and I hope that you might give me some useful advises.

Coming to my Problem:
Well, my 2 year old L. Lugubris just laid it's second pair of eggs, (the first pair were eaten pretty soon after being laid) and 2 weeks ago one young gecko hatched. After putting "her" into a seperated terrarium, I watched him eat a couple froot flyes. Now I started supplying her with several other kinds of food like baby food, banana, crushed eggs for Calzium and actually he is licking some banana but started ignoring any froot flyes for couple days. Yesterday I bought him some micro crickets and gave them to him, but he doesn't seem to show any interest and I am wondering if anything isn't good since his actualy terarium has the size 30 x 30 x 50, has loads of hiding places (although he isn't using them and lays on a piece of wood, corc or the hygrometer) The humidity is at days aroung 60 to 75% and goes up to 90 / 95% at night. The warmest place is aroung 31°C and the coolest round about 20°C.

So, compared to her mother, he seems awkward in her behavior since her mother ate like everything when she was young and hide all day long.
On my websearches I couldn't find any hints about the behavior she is showing especially about the behavior my small hatchling is showing.

I would appreciate help if you have any clue if he is alright or not, since it is my first hatchling and I really don't want to lose him.
thanks a lot

Hi GermanDude ~

Yes, many folks at Geckos Unlimited think our website is excellent. Thanks for choosing it !

I have "bred" Lepidodactylus lugubris since 1988. Well, actually, it does not take much. They do most the work .

You've done good to separate them, because the mom will eat her children if given the chance .

31 C seems too warm to me. I recommend keeping adults and hatchlings about 25 C. They will actually hatch and develop at 20 C on up with no problem, maybe only somewhat more slowly.

Are you lightly dusting your hatchling and adult with a phosphorous-free calcium powder with D3? I like the Rep-Cal brand. I also use Herptivite (Rep-Cal vitamins) about 2x per month. If you don't do that, they will develop seizures which ultimately will prove fatal.

Sometimes I mix peach and chicken baby food into the banana baby food. They will also eat Repashy's Meal Replacement Powder.

I raise the youngsters on lightly dusted fruit flies until they will take 2 wo crickets.

Hey and thanks for the quick answer.

well I`m using "ReptoCal" as an extra mineral booster :P 2 times a week although I feed them 3 times.
I was talking to a vet today and he told me it just might be that the new girl were too young when I told him the aproximate hatching date... After taking a few seconda I realized that he hatched after just rund about 50 days. The vet told me that he might be just too young and will need some time to develop...
But I am not sure if thats the reason for "stopping" to eat :S
Hoping that he will show a different behavior the next days

Your vivarium(s) look really beautiful! Many comfortable places for Lepidodactylus lugubris to hang out!

Phillip ~

I rarely can reply to your PMs and you say you've had difficulty with my regular e-mails. If you have other questions, please add them to this thread.

Don't like to be so out-of-touch !
