Thinking of getting into Paroedura

I have a lot of Phelsuma and I am thinking of trying out some nocturnal geckos. I want something that will be active and attractive and I am drawn to P. masobe. About how much do they typically cost? How active are they and what major husbandry differences do they have with Phelsuma?

Masobe are pretty much nothing like Phelsuma at all. Not in behavior or husbandry. I think that the flow of wild caught Masobe has pretty much stopped to the US these days. And captive breds are still very rare and very expensive.

I see. Well, scratch that then. I would like an interesting and active nocturnal gecko that remains small. I only really know the day geckos though so I don't know where to go. I think Ptychozoon are cool and I also kind of like Uroplatus but Paroedura really struck me (both picta and masobe, picta because they are small Madagascan species that I read can be found on beaches as close as 5 meters from the water, and masobe because when I came to this forum to look for picta I saw pics of masobe and thought they were amazing looking).
Anyway, what would you suggest for an active nocturnal gecko that will be fun to watch when I am up late and my Phelsuma are inactive?

If Paroedura is what you like, there's certainly options that fall between Picta and Masobe. There's also Vazimba, Androyensis, etc. Do a bit of research digging through old threads. As for cool nocturnal geckos in general, there's tons of them. You really need to just dig around a bit and do some reading and decide for yourself what's cool and what you're able to manage both from a financial standpoint and husbandry aspect. Way too many choices to just list off. Nothing wrong with your first choice of Picta though. Inexpensive, easy to work with, multiple morphs to choose from, fairly active, etc. Fun little geckos for sure.

Flying geckos are cool. put some red led night lights in there to help with viewing.... try to find CB, you'll probably have to go to show or something to find em, but if WC is all u can find i've had decent luck with em. They are fairly hardy. Try treating them for mites and parasites. Maybe mist some large crickets with that new reptile extra product developed by Tremper.

If you would like to try Paroedura, P. androyensis is a good choice. (OK, picta as well.) They are really cool, rather small geckos. Quite active and they climb vertical surfaces more and better than picta.
P. vazimba are nice too, but rarer and more expensive.
These species like it quite warmer and drier than masobe and gracilis.
