Default Masobe and B. Dubia

Just curious if anyone has tried B. Dubia roaches with their masobe? My U. lineatus LOVED dubia and would eat them out of a "gladware" type bowl. It made feeding very easy as the dubia couldn't escape the bowl since they're non-climbers and there was nothing for them to burry themselves in either. Anyone tried anything like this with their masobe?

My male likes them. My female will not touch them. Strange creatures these masobes, it is like having picky children. I have noticed that she will watch them for a while then she goes right back in to her hide. With crickets the masobes are all over the place and very active. I think the issue is the feed bowl itself. Mine do not like it.

I made a device "feed pole" out of some pvc pipe with screen wrapped around it. I then hot glued the feed tube upright in a plastic food storage container. When I put the roaches in they climb all over the feed tube making them more visible, but I have to sink the bowl in so the rim is level with the substrate. This is the only way my male has eaten them.

Hi,

at least 4 of my adult masobe eat dubias but they do not prefer it in any way. But as I do not use bowls I don't have 100% controle about who eats them and although we breed them at home I don't use them very often (I feed more S. tartara).

Regards
Siri

My masobes (which I got from Sourri - thanks, Sourri!) prefer crickets to everything, althought they will take lateralis. Strangely enough, I have not tried dubia with them, though I have a colony. I will have to try them.

I have also tried phoenix worms. Sometimes, they will eat all of them, sometimes they will not touch them. I have tried an adult black soldier fly, and it looks like they are not interested. It has been flying around the enclosure for a couple of days.

Hello Viktor,

glad to hear that they are doing well
My masobe also don't like flies. Only P. kuhli and G. vittatus showed interest in flies sometimes. I think masobe is some kind of "too lazy" for hunting them and also they don't recognize them at night

Regards
Siri
