Pictus female just laid eggs, advice?
Well, she laid eggs on the 16th, the day I got her. In fact, she pretty much started digging a hour or so after I added in a lay box. I got her as a gift, unfortunately she's from petsmart so I wouldn't be surprised if she has come in contact with parasites.
First thing is this, she is 13.2 grams AFTER laying (I weighed her about a hour ago) but is eating and drinking fine, no tail kinks and looks to be in good health that I can tell. I read that they need to be 20 grams before breeding, however. How can I get more weight on her easily, and should I attempt to cool her now?
Second is how can I tell if the eggs are duds? I used a little book light to candle them, and they seem pretty yellow. No red dot or anything.
Third is, unfortunately, I can't find a straight answer for what sort of calcium powder to use. So far it seems fairly universal to not use phosphorus with crickets, but how about D3? (I have calcium power with and without d3, and with and without phosporus, so whatever works)
and since I have the feeling people will ask me what she's on right now, I might as well list it now.
10 gallon sliding top lid, UTH on one side with temperatures from 85 on the warm end and 80 on the cool end. Using the small reptisun fluorescent UV lamp for 14 hours a day. Humidity is at 65%, she's currently on paper towel so I can get good proof that she continues to eat. She does have a shallow small water dish and hides and everything. I'll try to get a picture of the complete setup later.
And breeding the crickets as well, so they're all dusted and gut loaded and all that such.
Sound like I missed something or am I doing anything wrong?
and if I do need to cool her, are the temps okay if they're 75-77 degrees? (which is pretty much room temp for me, ahaha)
