Default Hurt Pictus

Hey all, Just got home from work to find that my female pictus laid 2 eggs last night (duds). They were stuck together and dented, but the bad part is she can't seem to stand up. Her back legs are splayed behind her she can move them but not stand on them. Could this be becuse of laying the eggs and it will return to her in time. She was in the middle of a shed and hasn't gotten all of it off yet. Any suggestions as to what to do?

You probably want to take her to the vet. Sounds like possible MBD.

I don't know if it is or not. She gets calcium almost every feeding. I can't get her to the vet for a few more days as I have a dog that has liver cancer that needs to be put to sleep as well. Rough week to be one of my animals. =(

in some rare cases, it seems that geckos can be lacking in their ability to take the calcium from the food, and therefore end up with MBD despite being fed well and properly. In this sort of case, it is worth doing everything you can to maximise the calcium uptake, so using UV, extra dusting on livefoods, and extra calcium in MRPs etc. Not sure about UV for pictus, its just a suggestion.

However, as Ethan has said, it sounds like a vet visit is in order.

Hi LordNyax ~

Two ideas
In the USA, anyway, you can buy this human-grade liquid calcium supplement called Calcium Glubionate from your pharmacy. If they don't have it on hand, it could be ordered. Comes in pints...not very expensive.

Have you been supplementing her with phosphorous-free calcium? Very important!! Please note my "sticky" in the GU Feeders, Food & Nutrition forum for the reasons why.
