Default Lost my masobe

It's been a while since I have posted. I have been in the process of building my new home. It has been a very stressful few months. I moved over 50 geckos, but lost my male masobe, this is a huge kick to the teeth. I figured only you guys would know how I am feeling. I just found him an hour ago; I am not sure what happened.

Thanks for listening
Rob

I guess I know how you are feeling. I just last month got 4 panther geckos. They were in a 10 gallon aquarium. I just set up a beautiful habitat for them and in the night I got up to do a last minute change. I swung the door shut and my beautiful big boy was coming out throught the hinge side. Just that quick he was dead. I just didnt expect him to get that close to me!I cant tell you how it haunts me. At least it was a quick death. He was just a little baby.

I lost a young het for albino N.l.pilbarensis female back in the mid 90's. That ruins your day... I had traded about $6k worth of S.c.ciliaris for the pair of pilbarensis.

Damn Rob...thats a kick right where it hurts for sure!

Anyway you can get a necropsy done? For such a gecko, it would be a shame to let a body go to waste.

I thought about it Derek, but I am unsure about what I am going to do. My funds are pretty much all gone with the new house and all. He is in the freezer so we will see. I really am 100% sure that stress was the main factor, it is to coincidental. The female was acting the same way, but she has seemed to come out of it and is eating fine.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I know this happens, but it sure does suck. It takes the ambition right out of you.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
It definitely seems that males of this species are much more nervous than females and will succumb to stress much faster and sooner.

Thanks Matjaz, I hate finding that out the hard way. This has really lowered my spirits. It has been a very long time since I have lost an animal in my care and of course it had to be a species I was most fond of. The worse thing about it is that their home had turned into the perfect little piece of rain forest. It took two days to break down properly and the whole time I had a bad feeling about moving them. I guess my instincts were correct.

Thanks again,
Rob
