Exclamation Pictus won't eat

Hi I really need help and appreciate any suggestions.

My gecko won't eat. I took her to the vet who gave her a vitamin shot and instructed me on how to ensure her habitat was correct. I believe she is in perfect conditions now, and have tried feeding her meal works wax worms and dusted crickets but she just will not eat. She is somehow still pooping, but very little and it has an unusually foul Odor and is slightly yellow. She is back on repticarpet and though she has moss in her tank I am confident that she is not eating it. She is not lethargic, but she has gotten significantly thinner and is now just 11 grams. I have a feeling that the new odor in her pop is a hint to the problem, and while the doctor reccommended the next step to be a fecal test, and then antibiotics, It is difficult for me to pay for this and I feel helpless because the doctor couldn't say what he thinks the problem is, only the treatments he could offer. I am hopeful someone can give some insight on what this is more likely to be--parasites, infection, or anything else. She has not shed in a long time nor has she laid an egg in many months. The vet said that physically she was healthy on the exterior. I have collected some feces but before I proceed with getting a fecal test I want to know if her symptoms are even indicative of parasites, so that if not I can proceed to the antibiotic injections without further delay.

Please help me figure out what I should do.

I have had her for a year and she has been healthy until she started plowing weight this past month.

Thank you

It seems odd she would be losing weight so quickly.. This might indicate something else..

However, you really just need to go ahead and do the fecal tests. If she does have parasites then the test will show that. And you cannot just start treating her for the parasites until you know the test results..

Anyway, apples, green beans, kale, peas, and pears are all good things that will keep your gecko healthier and happy. Once a week will be fine, but 2-3 times a week would be acceptable to.

Who are these destined for, the feeders?

panthergeckoNamka ~

Time to do the fecals NOW, especially with the foul-smelling feces...a real good sign something is amiss. Fecal results will guide your vet to the proper treatment.

Here's a link about collecting fecal samples: (for some reason I could not post this link)

Check right in the Pests and Diseases subforum for my info. I just bumped it to the top of the threads.

I realize this is an old-ish thread. If you have liquidy, foul-smelling feces and your gecko is losing weight, she could be anemic/inflamed due to parasites. It could also be a GI disease that's making her intestines inflamed, like a virus or bacteria. I'm curious if you took in a fecal to the vet and if you resolved the problem.
