P. rangei feeding problem
I have some problems finding prey items for my rangei.
I use small crickets with hopping legs removed, they run after them but usually miss their target while hunting. They sometimes catch crickets but it seems they really have trouble hunting them.
I have a limited choice of prey here, I have tried small waxmoth larvae without success and I see my rangei female losing weight.
Any suggestions? I can get silkworms and very small locusts but not small mealworms nor any type of roaches.

Hi,
I feed my rangei mainly small crickets and sometimes silkworms.
They are indeed not the best hunters but donīt worry I think they get enough food. I even do not remove the hind legs of the crickets.
regards
Sebastian

Ok...I was worrying because they are losing weight, I hope they did not get internal parasites through food crickets
Thanks for your answer Sebastian, I am going to make a fecal sample test just in case.

I had never problems with cricket (i never removed legs) or wax moths or something else. You can try firebrats (Thermobia domestica), it is amazing how active they are getting when offered this type of food. Why cant you get small roaches?

roaches are just not available in my area and they are a lot expensive in France.
What could be wrong then?

sorry i made a mistake. What i wanted to say is that they stop eating from time to time, i don't know what factors are responsible. But when they eat they eat a lot, so it shouldn't be a problem when such a period doesn't last to long.
An own food source is always helpful. Some roaches breed like hell.
