Default C.turneri breeding help please

Hello!

I have planned this year to breed my c.turneries so i set up a tank this summer for 3 turneri. 1male, 2female. 1 from the female is adult now the other is going to be within few months. The last one is a big beutiful male.

Weeks ago I found a dry egg on the ground. I think the soil was not wet enough therefore she didn't dig it. I decided to put a dark box into the tank with soil in it and spray it to be wet, and lure the female to go in there and lay the eggs down. I cut a small hole on the top of the box for her to be able to move into it. I send a photo of the tank and the box.

Yesterday evening I saw mating them in the sunlight! The male grabbed the female at her neck a held her until he put his hemipenis into her. Their body was sidelong at their hind legs. The female was not really happy because she moved her head up and down it seemed she wanted to move away from him. After the act the male licked his hemipenis for 1 or 2 minutes. Unfortunately i relized this mating too late so i could not take some pictures
My question is could it be possible that she use the box to lay eggs there?
And how long does it take to lay the eggs from mating?

Thanks for any help.

Hello,
as C.turneri lays hard shelled eggs a moist laying box isnīt a good idea.
Hard shelled eggs are very sensitive to moisture. So better use dry sand in your laying box.

Good luck!

Sebastian

P.S. Probably the "dried out" egg was not fertilized.

its also not the best idea to keep these geckos in trios. The females can beat up on each other pretty bad. like sebastian said, C. turneri and all chondrodactylus for that matter lay hard shell eggs. Put a pile of dry sand in a corner where it is fairly warm but not hot, and dark. she'll probably use it.
Most of my animals lay 3-5 weeks after mating takes place.

I use the finer mulched coco fiber as a substrate for my breeding pair. It's about 3 inches deep and kept bone dry. The eggs are clearly visible through the females abdomen and when I've noticed she has laid I sift through the substrate with my fingers until I find the eggs.

Hi!

Thanx the answers. My geckos are really get on well with each other.
So we will see that they can or can't stand each other. The male gecko doesn't look so agressive moreover its very calm with the females.
I will tell you if there are changes. Thanx once more.

I haven't cooled them but I have reduced their feedings for a couple months and then loaded them with food and that seems to get them breeding again.

Hi!

I have removed the box from the tank where the geckos were. So i took a plastic box with some hole on it and put sand into it. Few weeks ago the c.turneri female laid two eggs one on the ground and the other is on stick on the bark. I removed them from the tank and put them into the box with some sand on it and with 12-14 hour 28-30 C and 24 C night temp. My question is. Is it normal that the gecko stick the egg onto the bark and not diging it, And can the small baby geckos dig them out from the sand when they hatched?

Thank you for the helps
