Default Ptenopus breeding success??

Hi all,
I just wondered out of all the Ptenopus being kept in captivity, how many keepers have had success?

I dont think many people have had success with garrulus. There have been a few, but not many. I think part of the problem is getting compatible animals. In the wild, as I'm sure you know they live in small to MASSIVE colonies. I think you must have animals from the same colony, or your chances are slim.
I know carpi have been bred, and im fairly sure that kochi have not.

Thanks for the reply,
I assume P. g. maculatus are similar to garrulus with regards to the difficulties in breeding?

Do you know if carpi are being bred in any significant numbers?

I do believe that garrulus garrulus and garrulus maculatus would both be very difficult if not impossible to breed without having animals from the same colonies.
I cant speak too much about carpi because i dont keep them, but they have been bred, and i believe with some regularity. I dont think significant numbers are being bred, as they as well as all ptenopus sp. only lay one egg. So, lucky for the few of us that keep this great genus, the will stay rare in captive collections

Ptenopus are one of the few species that I’ve never seen over here in Europe as true CB.

I had a small colony of P. garrulus a few years ago, my pics are on an old thread here somewhere and although I got a couple of eggs, all were duds. Unfortunately I had to sell off most of my collection and am only now building it back up.

I know the keepers/breeders are few and far between but hopefully one day soon, I’ll be able to work with this amazing genus again.
