I do believe that garrulus garrulus and garrulus maculatus would both be very difficult if not impossible to breed without having animals from the same colonies.
I cant speak too much about carpi because i dont keep them, but they have been bred, and i believe with some regularity. I dont think significant numbers are being bred, as they as well as all ptenopus sp. only lay one egg. So, lucky for the few of us that keep this great genus, the will stay rare in captive collections
