Male
Default P. tigrinus

Hi all,

P. tigrinus is about 2 years on my wishlist. Today I found a couple in a local reptile-shop for €40. He told me he got them from Köln in germany. Does any one knows if there were recent imports of p. tigrinus? I am wondering if they would be offered at Hamm in december and at witch price.

Thanks in advance!
Matias

I have no clue if the available geckos are WC or CB, but judging from my own experience with tigrinus, there should be no reason for importing wild ones. They are so prolific, I can't see any shortage of them in the hobby. I'm inclined to think if anyone has a pair, there should be offspring readily available.
Good luck with your search, and post pictures when you get more. I love those little guys.

Hilde ~

How successful have you been hatching out male Pachydactylus tigrinus?

I have no clue anymore, it's been almost 10 years since I had them.
To be honest, I don't even know if I ever checked the ratio. I do know that there had to be a lot of males, no matter who bought a few from me, they found fertile eggs before long.

Might you recall your incubation temps for those?

This goes way back in time, so to speak, and there was no info available on them (or I didn't find any). I put them in the 'cool' incbator at first, temp range 78-82F. When I noticed some hatchlings in with the adults, I started leaving the eggs to hatch on their own. It seemed that all the eggs that I missed hatched, so why move them by the dozen and risk breaking them? I did see eggs in some warmer spots near the heat pad, but also found some farther away, somtimes in a small crevice. Logic said they were laid in those tight spaces, didn't get kicked in there, even though the temperature couldn't have been more than about 75 or so. I rarely found dead eggs while cleaning. I really have no idea of their safe incubation range, but they can't be too picky from the looks of it. I never got a chance to see if they're TDSD.

+1 for TSD in Pachydactylus tigrinus

Have had these now for 13+ years. Prolific little dudes! Have not bred them since Dec 2004, because I could not find buyers. They spend much of their time, especially at shows, in their little caves.

Even when I kept some eggs incubating in the high 80s, females still hatched. I am wondering whether anyone has achieved definitive temps for hatching out males.

Keep on quartz Jurassic Reptile Playsand from Jerry Bergosh.
