Did this with my daughter (who was 3yr at the time), used 2 inch thick foam and cut to size, the layers had to be cut into pieces to fit in the 50 gallon tank because the lip on the top of the tank...side note the foam was the kind with the pink panther on it...an super dense... I used liquid nails
