I got lucky and got myself a pair of Matoatoa brevipes right down the street. Just cell phone pics right now. Since they are from SW Madagascar in the spiny thickets, I plan to keep them 75-80F in the warmer months and mist them every day or other day. For food I have 3 species of isopods...
I am taking a week long trip to Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of May. Most of my trip will be partying and photographic events. But 2 days are reserved to go visit a patch of jungle just southeast of Rio. Does anyone know if any geckos reside in this area? Any other herps you know of in...
Can someone give me an idea for a CHEAP and EASY method of making a sealed up container to keep freakin' roaches from escaping. I was trying an open garbage can like I did with crickets, but they're better climbers. I've tried using BugStop and it has no stop effect. I've also used a plain...
I am looking for any papers on Rhacodactylus and Eurydactylodes. I have had very little luck finding references online. I will of course be checking Aaron Bauer's website. Does anyone have the reference information on these genera?

I have a pair of mariquensis and the male makes his bark/call every night. Interestingly enough he does it within 15 minutes of the hour every hour after dark. I've heard this up to 4am! My question is will the female ever bark back? They have been breeding age since summer but I have had no...
Tonight I saw a segment of "Planet in Peril" with Jeff Corwin in the forests of eastern Madagascar. Lots of lemurs of course but there was a few minutes on geckos. They showed short video of Uroplatus phantasticus, U. sikorae, U. henkeli and U. fimbriatus. They also showed Jeff catching a...

I know a lot of people feed their Phelsuma baby food, bee pollen, nectars. Has anyone tried these Rhacodactylus diets with Phelsuma? If it's sweet I would assume they'll eat it and if it's a complete balanced nutrition...has someone tried yet?
I just got a new female auriculatus  in a trade. She's gorgeous and huge. She's obviously American, look at the photos; she's obese.
She's bigger than my chahoua. At some point I will have to get her a partner.
I bought these as "Green Day Geckos" (what a generic term!) in Daytona. They are two females, definitely of the same species. Day Geckos in Captivity by the Christenson's says l. laticuada is ID'd by 3 teardrop shaped red markings. These are quite ambiguous. Take a look:
Can anyone tell me the genera from South America. The only ones I am aware of are Briba (monotypic), Phyllodactylus, Gonatodes and Sphaerodactylus. I know there are also a few Hemidactylus including the exotic H. mabouia. What other geckos are there? Why is it so many snake species are imported...
Does anyone have any good methods for keeping crickets from stinking up my reptile room? I really don't want to have to clean their enclosure every day.
Here are pics of my T. gigas. I can't accurately sex them by looking for the usual bulge. I have heard different theories on how to sex them but I'm hoping someone with experience can give me more positive answers. The juveniles are each around 9 months old.
