    2012 Hatchling Parade- DUW

Now that it's a brand new year, I can safely do a year end total thread. They may not be in chronological order, but it was enough of an undertaking just to upload all of them. Hopefully I didn't miss any. Anyway, here they go, all U. Henkeli and U. Fimbratus.

    Gonatodes Albugularis Fuscus

Just got them today, and man are they tiny! I already like them, and hope the learning curve isn't too difficult and that I can make more of them. Any suggestions or advice is welcome. I plan to deck out their final enclosure, but for now they're in a simpler setup so I can try to keep tabs...

Breeding Season 2012 U. Henkeli hatchlings

After 121 days of incubation I finally get to see what a new pairing produces, and though it hasn't shed yet, I think I'll be pleased with the color. This was a lone egg clutch, but signals the beginning of the 2012 Uroplatus hatching season for me. Should be a fun ride until late winter...

    Big Auric

I've had this guy since he was a juvie, and he's always been a good eater. I just decided the other day to weigh him and was really surprised at how much he weighs. I got him because I like the dual stripes, but now I'm digging his size as well. I don't feed him any different than the other...

    Hemidactylus?

I assume this is a house gecko, but I'm not familiar with any that have markings like this one. The picture was taken on an island near Fiji. Any ideas?

    Dual bay cabinet style incubator

So one day I was griping at a herp buddy of mine about how ugly most incubators are (I'm a finish carpenter in the Boston area), and mentioned how I was thinking of making a dual bay incubator that would actually be decent looking. Of course, he was very interested in the idea, and since we are...

    Blaesodactylus Boivini

I've been wanting this species for a while, and interestingly through my Uroplatus interest I was made aware of a Mada. shipment that came in recently. This was one of the species in the package. I picked up 3.5 and a pair will be going to a buddy leaving me with 2.4. They seem like cool geckos...

    Repairing cracked eggs

I'm feeling the urge to do my part to keep threads on topic around here, so I'm starting a new one on this subject. I broke the first clutch of Uroplatus eggs I got from ignorance, so hopefullly this will help others not make the same mistakes and if they do give them options to remedy the...

    Brosse Pink and Snowflake pairing

I believe this is the first time the "Pink" and "Snowflake" Brosse have been paired, but it doesn't really matter because I've been waiting a long time for this and am VERY excited about it. She's already been laying eggs this year, so I'm optimistic about getting a clutch or two from them soon.

    Fimbriatus Eggs!

It's about frikn' time, I might add... She's laid some duds off and on since the late fall, but I could see them through her belly this morning. she had dug in the laybox last night, so I took it out and checked it but there was nothing. I went somewhere, and when I came back she was back...

    First Uroplatus Hatchling

After quite a bit of me wigging out thinking this would never happen, my first uro just hatched last night about 6:30. I checked the incubator, went upstairs and got a piece of pizza, walked back down the the herp room and there it was. This pic is a few minutes after hatching, before the...

Uroplatus: Swollen limb...difficulty climbing & shedding

Having kept Uroplatus for a little while now, I'm getting used to strange things happening for no reason. It seems to be the defining characteristic of the entire genus. I've experienced, several different parasites, everted hemipenes, possible calcium crashes and a death or two for no...

    Uroplatus X-ray

Got this taken the other day and thought the community in general would want to see it. It's not every day a Uroplatus gets x-rayed, I think...

    Heat and egg binding

I'm curious to hear thoughts related to egg binding and temperature in uroplatus- It's commonly known that other species can have egg development issues sometimes leading to egg binding when temps are too low. Put that together with the fear of over heating that many keepers have and I wonder...
