    Sphaerodactylus elegans hatchling!

My pair of ashy geckos has been fruitful so far this year. Only two eggs have hatched so far (last one one week ago, next due soon), and I have another 5 eggs incubating at this time. Here is the first to hatch.

    White spots on tongue?

Hey, sorry to bring up a downer, but one of my Uroplatus aff. henkeli that hatched out last year has been on a decline for the past week or so. Not understanding what was going on, I assist fed him a couple of nights ago without any problems. Today, as I opened his mouth, I saw white spots on...

    Hatchling Sphaerodactylus elegans

I've seen pictures of how beautiful the offspring are, but it did not prepare me for this at all.

    U. aff. henkeli, copulation, release, hemipene

Just spotted this tonight after my roommate said "dude, look...something is wiggling around in there!" I caught them right toward the end. (sorry, something got in the way of the upper right) Right as he finished (she was getting impatient). And judging by the lack of comments on my...

    U. aff henkeli, laying eggs and covering

I noticed one of the females on the floor of the enclosure last night, snooping around. When I got up this morning, I looked in and saw her doing her thing. Last week, there was a single dud egg I found in the enclosure (the first I've noticed from this group). I assumed the other had been...

Counting heads - U. aff henkeli

So my adults were pretty explosively successful last year. I got quite a few eggs, with the last of them from that season hatching over last weekend. I decided, after an extremely busy semester, to finally get around to taking some photos. I managed to photograph most of the hatchlings...I...

    MistKing - Exo Terra install

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share the method which I just used to install a MistKing nozzle in my Exo Terra 18"x18"x24" terrarium, since the wedges offered by MistKing don't work as intended on the Exo Terra enclosures. It's really only a tiny adaptation from MistKing's recommendation for...

Uroplatus aff henkeli emerging from egg

Hey, I grabbed this video of a hatchling that I noticed had suddenly begun hatching a couple of months ago. Its clutchmate had already emerged, so I kept a close eye on it. Basically, in the few seconds between two glances, it popped its head out. Once I got things in line, I got to take a...

    U. aff henkeli, view of a hemipene

Breeding in my group began this year in early- to mid-February at the latest. Here is a shot I took of my male as I heard some vocalizations come from the room one night. I know it's not the greatest view of a hemipene, but knowing the morphology of the hemipenes is sometimes a factor that can...

    Loooong incubation

So, my U. aff henkeli have been pretty productive in the first year. For my latest pair of eggs to hatch, they were laid the morning of Aug 30, 2011. First hatchling was just spotted in the incubator moments ago from this clutch (~7pm, Feb 28, 2012). If you do the calculation, that's a...

    long incubation durations

Just curious, I know the incubation duration for any given species can vary quite a bit, but what are some of the species of gecko that have the longest record for incubation duration that yielded a live hatchling in the end? What were the incubation durations?

    MistKing users?

Any fellow Uroplatus enthusiasts using a MistKing system? I'm interested in hearing how you manage the spraying schedule for various species, and furthermore if anyone has any suggestions on how best to deal with a single unit misting differently sized enclosures. I'll potentially be hooking...

    Egg rotation

I'm just curious how many people have experience with eggs rotating at some point in the incubation period after being laid. Back when I had a decent collection, I would occasionally drop an egg while trying to gently pick it up, losing track of the orientation before I have a chance to mark...

My personal opinion on the "like" button

I guess it hasn't just been implemented recently, but I feel as though there is sometimes a destructive manner in which the "like" button is used. It's not just here, it's everywhere, and I haven't seen the issue addressed. I'm sure the intent for the like button is innocent. It's a way to...

Here's one to make you think

I was browsing some photos of the Madagascar pool and came across this one. Distinctly U. sikorae with those yellow eyes, but U. henkeli with that pattern. I would say more U. sikorae than anything, but I've never seen a pattern like that on the species.

    Back in the habit...errrr...hobby

Well, I stopped by a reptile show last weekend and found a vendor who had done a bad deal with me several years ago. To make up for it, he offered me a pair of leaftails. What may be surprising to some is that I actually declined a pair of phantasticus, and instead went with a pair of sameiti...

    Need info on Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis

hey guys. i walked into the reptile show in charlotte today hoping to find some leaftails for sale, but just as i had expected, there were none. it was sorta refreshing to see that there were a good number of crested geckos, it's good to see they're finally catching on around here. anyway, some...

    Help with morphs/values

hey guys. i've gotta ask your help, as i took on a leopard gecko collection that a friend had for his children. his children stopped caring for them, so he gave them to me before they suffered too much. i have been successful on fattening most of them up, there is still one that has been up...

a request for photos (identifying species)

ok, so i have a request for the uroplatus community here. i would like to put together a guide to differentiating the species of Uroplatus within the trade to make it easier for people to determine what they've got. i have plenty of shots of phantasticus. however, i would like shots of pretty...

    cool mist humidifiers

ok, i know this topic has been covered before, but i cant find it. so i am building a terrarium for U. henkeli, and i am interested in cool mist humidifiers. i know there are people that customize these through tubing and whatnot in order to dump the mist into the enclosure, creating a nice...
