Hey everyone, this is my first post in a long while. This is primarily due to the fact that my Leo Balboa has enjoyed a good year and a half (or so) of easy living. He's been eating, digesting, shedding, and everything else very well. Pleased to say that he's pretty healthy.
Hello everyone,
It's been quite some time since my last post.
In any case, I bought my gecko from its original owner about a year and a half ago. He's healthy, eating well, the whole bit. Clean bill of health.
However, I noticed at the pet store the other day that what the original owner...
So for the roughly 7 months that I've had my Leo (he was full grown when I got him) I've been using meal worms as my staple. I threw in a half dozen crickets two or three times in that time span.
Anyway, Balboa has been rejecting meal worms almost entirely lately. Licks them, sniffs them, and...
Before reading any further, I understand that there are "better" options for winter and just general temperature control. Many of you might want to decry that I should have used much fancier technology and so forth. I was on a tight budget however and this, I think, has actually worked out...
Hello everyone,
Not too long ago I posted a question about serving sizes, and whether 3 large meal worms was an acceptable meal size for my gecko.
It was told to me then that I should expect my gecko to "slow down" his eating habits during the winter months.
Two nights ago my gecko ate 3...
I got a letter from my apartment complex today saying that the electric company will be doing some repairs on my building tomorrow. As a result, they expect the power to be out on my unit from 9am until about 4am.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could keep my gecko's enclosure at...
Hello again everyone...
My Leo, who is a full sized adult, was eating four meal worms a day when I first got him (he was already an adult, this was about two months ago that I purchased him from a previous owner). I would feed him at night and he was pretty quick to eat all four. Lately though...
I posted a few days ago asking about UTH compatibility with my set up, let me run a refresher course...
-20 gallon long tank
-tile as substrate
I added a uth heating pad, the stick on kind, that was rated for 10-20 gallon tanks, and mounted it on the bottom of the tank. I turned it on...
I'm thinking about getting a UTH after my next pay check. I've got a 20 gallon long tank for my leo with custom cut kitchen tile instead of substrate.
My only question is will the heat from the heater permeate as effectively through the tile as it would through sand or other such substrate?
I took my Leo out of his cage to clean today and finally decided to take some photos to show you guys.
His name is Balboa, as in Rocky Balboa. I saw some pics of someone else's Gecko on here that looked kind of like mine. He or she was told that their's was a Hypo Tangerine. Is this a proper...
Hey everyone....
When I bought my gecko the other day the previous owner had the moist hide on the cool side. I thought this was odd, but she said thats what they've always done so I left it there for a few days. I talked to a petsmart employee who owns a Leo and he said that I should...
I'm having some issues and concerns with the heat of my tank with my Leo in it. Let me give you guys some background on the housing and the situation in general.
Brought home my Leo the other day from a previous owner. The Leo, according to the previous owner, is roughly 1.5-2 years old, give...
I was at the local Petsmart the other day looking at reptile hide and decorative type pieces. You know, the usual stuff, castles, dinosaur skulls, this that and the other.
My question is, should I consider most any type accessory of this nature to be safe for a leopard gecko? I would only be...
I've read that a calcium dish is an important object to have in my Gecko's vivarium. I just have a few questions though...
Should I offer the same calcium powder that I use when feeding dusted crickets?
Is it alright for the Gecko to eat just straight calcium powder?
How much and how often...
Hello all,
My name is Alex and I just wanted to stop in and say hello to the board. I'm getting my first Leo this weekend and I'm really excited about it. I'm purchasing it from a previous owner who can no longer afford the time needed to care for it. The Gecko, which I have chosen to rename...
