How are enclosure sizes and shapes determined for each species? I'm no expert and I would love to see good discussion on the subject in order to establish some kind of general guidelines through sensible opinions,
1. natural habitat:
-- arboreal --> enclosure needs height and climbing surfaces...
I probably reinvented the wheel with this "invention", but I'll show it to you nonetheless. I was having problems getting my L. mombasicus eggs out from tight spots such as these:
So then it comes to me: I need something thin, that will nicely fit within a space that is, at most, the width...
I thought I'd finally start a general thread about these geckos that I've been breeding for a short while. So far, I've produced 16 hatchlings from WC parents that were imported from Shimba Hills, near Mombasa, Kenya. Out of 7 individuals that I received, three died within a number of months...
When I first began searching for information on Lygodactylus species, it was very frustrating. Bits and pieces of information here and there, many times contradicting each other in many different ways. Now, after getting my L. mombasicus geckos to breed successfully, I'd like to share the...

This was my first hatchling to die...
So far I've had two hatch like this. Coloration seems to hypomelanistic/albinistic, and so far I haven't found any information dealing with variance in coloration of L. mombasicus.
The older one (hatched in April):
At less than a week of age:
..and the newcomer, around a few days...
I already posted about this at SA Reptiles and on a Finnish reptile forum herppi.net, but still no definitive answers.
This gecko was brought to Finland via cargo load from Asia -- this is all we know. Here's a picture of the gecko: Click for image..
Help, anyone? Even the genus would be great...
Hello everybody :)
In the next few weeks I should receive my first gekkos, some Lygodactylus sp. (suspected to be L. picturatus) and I have already built the vivarium to house them (pictured below).
I am looking forward to reading plenty more about these and other geckos and getting to know...
