Some General Questions on the Genus

Well Ive recently taken the plunge into this genus, I have 1.2 lineatus and 2.2 phantasticus, all of which seem to be settled in and doing well.

How do people generally feed these guys... Im just going free range for the phants since they seem to be pretty hesitant to go after insects in a dish. The lineatus however are avid dish feeders, at least for me. Anyone have any tips or anything, Ive entertained the thought of hand feeding but would like to hear of other peoples experiences first.

Also, has anyone noticed any food preferances,f or example roaches vs crickets etc... Ive noticed my phants eat silkworms, which is a great thing, one of the first non eublepharine geckos Ive owned which do so.

Also, Ive heard alot about showering them, literally sticking them on a plant in a clean shower and letting it rip... gently of course and always barely warm to the touch (70ish degree water I hear is perfect).. any thoughts on this.. or anyone out there know how to make a cheap rain chamber?

Just a newbie keeper who has exhausted all the printed materials out there seeking some of the finer points of Uroplatus husbandry from you more experienced keepers, fire away, even if i didnt ask about it, and thanks in advance!

welll, it seems like you did more of your homework than some people do before buying geckos such as leaf tails. i free range my crickets with my phants, and they do fine that way. showers are a good idea if any of your animals have problems with dehydration, or you can even do it as a way to pep up your animals if you think you might not be watering them enough. however, 2 sprays a day should be good. i've always used crickets and never had a problem with em, heard they'll take small lobster roaches just as well. your lineatus may be big enough to take medium-sized hissing roaches.

Thanks for the insight and the compliments, I never jump into something without educating myself first :D
