Will giant geckos eventually get a little cheaper???

Im just wondering cuz Ive never had an oppurtunity to buy my very first giant gecko yet! Why? Because theyre so expensive & the average price of a hatchling is just like the price of a new home theater system set or a new high-megapixel digital camera or camcorder or even an i-pod which I was still hoping to get a lil later... So will giant rhacos or leachies may possibly get a lil cheaper from time to time once they become a lil more common in the pet trade or unfortunely I still have to wait a few more years? Im really a big fan of rhacodactylus geckos & Im starving to go get my very first pair (hopefully)!

yes, animal prices always drop as they become more common. you just have to set your prioritys straight. which is more important, a leachie or a home theater system. i have 3 and i dont watch tv, and my computer is older then dirt.

currently alot of people are breeding "mutt" leachies that you can find on kingsnake, hatchlings for usually about 450, which i belive is the cheapest you can get. i dont really support "mutt" breeding [mixing locals, or whatever leachies you can get your hands on rather then keeping them pure] but people do it, which is why the babies are cheap. pure bred animals from respectable dealers are going to be alot more.

saras have recently come down in price, and you can now find them for less then 200$ each, which is what you would pay for an attractive gargoyle. chahouas are still quite a bit [slightly less then leachies], and the rough snouted geckos are still totally out of anyones price range.

currently, cresteds are rising in the pet trade [leopard geckos and ball pythons being the bread and butter] and ususally peoples next step is gargoyles after they get their first 5 cresteds or so. then for more serious rhac enthusiasts are the leachies, cute and fun like big puppy dogs. then come saras and chahouas, in popularity. and no one even dreams of actually getting the rough snouted geckos.

wait a few years. itll come down, then again so will the value of the dollar, so that isnt saying a whole lot. good luck.

I dream of getting a rough snout! Every day! I am getting into real estate, and am hoping to make enough money to buy a pair ;)

yea, im going to start breeding my island e's and my gargoyles next spring, those funds will go to directly twords getting a trio of saras and a pair of chahoua + set ups.

i figure the rough snouted geckos will come after i buy a house. [maybe you can hook me up with a deal?] i think i can afford.... zero down payment, and like.. 200$ a month with my current minimum wage job hahaha. or i can just wait like 40 years or something. by then the price will have come down... or theyll be extinct. either way.

Im planning to order some saras from alan hopefully. were either going to pick up a pair of those next, Or were going to take home the adult pair of lichtenfelderi, first we want to be 100% sure they are infact lichtenfelderi... 250 is a really good deal. we got all of our island e's for less then they were going for

I've seen them for as cheap as 250usd also but most are 350-400 from what I've seen. I'm getting a getting a GT leachianus for 400 soon which is a pretty sweet deal in my opinion.
I also disapprove of crossing localities (GTxAna, etc.). I don't see anything wrong with crossing morphs of GT (dark x light, etc.) but mixing the leachianus with henkeli and crossing the different offshore islands just seems like a good way to lose the pure locales in the long run.

i dont thing that pairs will go down just because it takes 2-5 years for them to sexualy mature...but babies i have seen for 250 ...
i think crossing is kinda stupid...but as long as it dosent get out of hand...where to all u find is cross then it will suck...but untill then its ok...
thats what i think...

IMO Ill never gonna have a great rhaco(all species) collection until I have a good future career! Almost everything out there (rent, gas, univ. tuition fees, textbooks, etc.) are freakin expensive nowadays esp. in the "golden" state... :( My budget is so tight that I cant even spend a grip in the IRBA shows anymore... Maybe in the future itll get all paid off...
Its only a matter of time...
