Moving with geckos

I have about a 7 month old leo that I recently bought from the store. However, in two years my family is planning to move and it may be sooner if my dad finds a job. How would one go about moving a leopard gecko? I'm more concerned about the shipping part because I'm not sure you can take them on the plane with you. I don't want to give Hector up for adoption, and I know breeders ship the animals around, so how do I?

Thanks,

Black Mako

airlines and herps

Most of the time planes don't have a problem with carry ons such as geckos. I'd check with your airline just incase.

Here's a quote from Dendroboard:
"Jordan,
I have never flown with frogs but I have friends that have. They placed them in a small carry on bag and they were fine. No one questioned the frogs when they xrayed the carry on bag. The frogs were not effected by the exposure to the xray either. If questioned about the frogs did come up I would not call them "POISON" dart frogs or "POISON" arrow frogs. I would simple refer to them as tropical frogs or exotic frogs. Don't want to cause any unnecessary confusion or panic to anyone in the SECURITY department. Anyway have a great time and enjoy the trip.

Pretty much what I've done with small animals on the plane.

lol, that could be risky trying to ship them, if u ship them too soon before u leave they may arrive at ur new house before u even get there and they would have to lay them at the door or they wouldnt be able to drop them off which would be a problem
