i just recently cut down a fig tree in by back yard, and yes i know that is a horrible thing to do. but the tree took up half my yard. when i cut it down the tree had these hug tree sticks so i decided to keep them for watever reason. i want to put them in my enclosure. do i just put them in water? or do i have to do anything else with them to make sure that everything is ok.

Although dont get me wrong this isn't something you MUST do. I know plenty of people that take wood straight out of their backyard, wash it and let thier cresties enjoy it. Bleaching and baking the wood serves the purposes to -completely kill all germs and bacteria - extend the life time of the wood in your enclosure, after the wood is baked it will be much less resistant to mold or rot

I've never bothered to sanitize any wood I found unless another animal or the animal I've useing it for had contact with it.
