My male is not quite ready for breeding, but I want to be prepared for when he is... I need tips on the following:
:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
-How do I get my geckos to breed?
-How to make a homemade incubator.
-What's a good substrate to use for incubation? (I have peat moss??)
-And just any other helpful tips!

To get your geckos to breed, all you need to do is put a male with a female and let them do their thing. I like to leave the male in with the female for a few days then take him out. If successfully bred the female should lay within 2-4 weeks.

As far as an incubator goes. I buy one from beanfarm for 40 bucks. It is a great deal. I do not know much about building one but for 40 bucks the hovabator from beanfarm.com is well worth it.

I use peat moss for the lay box in the females cage, but for incubating eggs I use perlite. I have had success with perlite, i think it works the best. I use a .9 water to 1 part perlite ratio. I live in a very dry climate so I use a bit more moisture then some people.

I hope this helps, email me with any more questions ill be glad to help.

First of all, thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. :D I thought incubators were much more expensive than that, sounds like a good deal, I'll have to go to the site and check it out. I do have a couple more questions though...

Is it not a good idea to house my male with my females, even though he is too young to breed? (One female is about 7-8mo., the other female is about 4 mo., and the male is about 4-5 mo.<just got him a couple of days ago>. They all get along well, no problems as of yet, I've had them together for about 5 days now.) And where do I find perlite?

I personally house all my geckos seperate unless breeding them. Sometimes the older/bigger one can bully the others. If they are all around the same weight it shouldnt be a problem, but I think leopards do better on their own. If you could it would be better to keep them seperate. If you want to house them together make sure they are all eating a gaining weight. Also check for bites or scratches.

Perlite can be bought on beanfarm.com , or you could get it at Lowes or Home Depot.

Good luck!

Do not house them together, even if they do not breed the female will subconciously bully the male due to the large size difference. There is still a chance that he will try to mate with her, and that is clearly unwanted. Seperate housing is a must.
