Moonlights

Has anybody ever used a moonlight with these guys? I just installed 3 5000mcb blue LEDs in my 29g U. sikorae tank. It provides a very nice amount of light so that you can watch them at night. However, I'm wondering whether this amount of light will bother them. How much light can I have in there at night so that they will be able to move around and hunt without a problem? Anybody have any experience with moonlights?

I have used white X-mass lights on a dimmer in the past with visibility, activity and no heat. Keep it dark outside the cage and they can not see you.

I have some blue leds wired up as night lights(3 bucks plus a 12volt transformer) shining in one area of my habitat, more often than not my sikoreas choose to be in the "moonlit" area, they have many regions to use, but when I move the beam the seem to move into it!!!

I have seen some made by hagen for fish tanks, I was going to try those as they come with water proof brackets and are fully adjustable. Think i am going to get some next week, although probably not for my uroplatus just yet... Was going to try them on my exo-terra tanks first cause of easy of instalation on those, but if they work well i will try them on the uroplatus' vivarium too.

I'm going to test these out since I have a spare one around here, but other than that a project this summer will be adding LED's into my existing lighting(48" shoplights on my shelving). I'll prolly only have them on 2-4 hours a night and for special viewing times. I'd love to see if maybe it will entice them into mating or something crazy like that, I guess I'll have to experiment and find out.

The moonlight is a 5, 11,000mcd LED package that can cover up to 3 feet with a radius of 120 degrees side to side and 60 degrees front to back. I'll let you know how the prelims turn out.

Well here is a pic of the 29g sikorae tank with 3 5000mcd LEDs hooked up. In person it is not as bright. The 2 sikorae don't seem to have any trouble hunting or moving around at night, so it doesn't seem as though they are bothered by the light.
