Great Pics Geckohunter!
I also keep Castelnaui but it is a rare event on when I get to see her eat! I only have 1 at the moment and I keep her in a large vertical vivarium about 70cmH-60cmL-65cmW. I am pickeled to what sex it is as it was sold to me as a male but I cannot see any hemipenal lumps at the base of the tail. I will get some pics up soon! If it is a female I was wandering if you or anybody that you know is selling a male or vice versa. However, I cannot purchase until after 30 june because the Northern Velvet is a specialist animal in SA and u need a specialist license to keep it. I only have a basic permit but I am being issued a specialist so it was the dealers fault for not knowing what license the gecko needed to be sold into. Phew, got that done! Will put pics up soon!

Hey GeckoHunter,
Thanks for taking such interest as alot of people that I have told just did not give a *+#@. I am gettin lots of pics as we speak, well not right now of course but straight after i post this reply! Would you be able to give an estimated price on what you think a male will cost? I paid $120 for Jet from a local rep dealer but you hypothesis will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

HI Shawn

I bought mine recently for $60 each from a local breeder, which was an excellent price.
They are about 2 years old (Im not sure if they have bred).
The female is missing a few toes on her front left foot, but she is quite healthy and can obviously hunt and move about okay.

I have seen some advertised in the past around the $75 mark.
If you purchase them from pet shops, they would be more expensive as it would be a retail rate. Personally, I wouldnt pay over $90 for one, but sometimes for the sake of having the animal, you just have to bite the bullet.

I expect mine will be breeding this year, so hopefully (all going to plan) I'll have some hatchlings next year for sale.

In the mean time, try looking for some web sites which are 'herp classifieds.'
PM me if you would like a small list to start scoping.

cheers,

Hey GeckoHunter,
I suppose I paid a pretty dodgey price then. I bought her a few weeks after I got into geckos so I was new to the hobby. The only online herp classifieds I know of are: Petlink.com.au, Reptilesdownunder.com, Animalattraction.com.au and australianreptilesociety.com. If you know of any others, please tell me as I want to get a male right before the breeding season so I can get eggs right away. About pics, I cannot get any of her underside due to the crappy cam that we have but I can get some of her herself. Will take a while though, so sorry for the inconvenience. I will just get her sexed by a local Gecko expert but thanks anyway.
Cheers
