I got two empty cages, planning to use it to house 2.2 phantasticus.
The cage sizes are simillar,

First cage is 24"L x 17"T x 12"D.
Second cage is 20"L x 20"T x 11"D.

Which one do you guys think it's better to house 2 pairs of phants?

If it were me, I would go with the taller one. I think they really like to climb on thin branches, which would tend to be higher in the tree. Somebody else may have a different opinion, I haven't had Phants near as long as most of these guys.

Ya, All mine like staying on low branches.... So I would use the First cage.. 17" should be plenty of room.. They also like to hide in leaf-litter on the bottom of the cage and in dense leaves close to the bottom of the cage... I normally find mine about a foot or so off the ground when they are sleeping...

Thanks Erik

I'd probably go with the first one too. They can sometimes be very active laterally and usually perch on the lowest branches anyway. Either will work fine and would be just as successful really.

ive gotta agree with monkey. the difference in size between these two enclosures is so minute that it shouldnt matter which one you use.

and erik...your satanics hang out on the bottom in leaf litter? the only time ive ever had satanics hang out at the very bottom was either to lay eggs or because something was wrong health-wise.

I was trying to say that they dont use alot of height with their cages.. They tend to stay towards the bottom.. Their not like linned leaf-tails or Henkeli or giants which like going as high as possible!

THanks Erik

When I first started keeping them, I set up a 10 gallon on its side. The female hung out 4 or 5 inches from the top and the male hung out about mid way down. Now their in a bigger area and they both hang out about a foot from the substrate.

I'll probably use the first one since it's wider and more pleasant to see.
Can't wait to get them next week.
Thanks guys!
