a/c in an apartment, any ideas?

I need to figure out how to 1) build a giant box that I can run a/c in without running it to a window or 2) use a large walk in closet for this purpose, still being able to set temps at any level I need to. Also a sound proof cricket compartment  This will save me a grip of money right now if I can pull it off. My concern is what the effects of running the a/c exhaust to the bedroom will do?

I have a good construction background but have no idea of the results of a portable a/c and its exhaust into my bedroom. Does it create lots of humidity, too much heat and are there ways I can counter the problems with another pre-exhaust compartment?

Man, the exhaust from the AC is going to make your bedroom hot like doo-doo. There's no window that you can run the exhaust to via 4" dryer duct? If you can come up with a window, we can come up with a solution. But the hot air has to have somewhere to go besides back into the apartment.

The way to make soundless crickets is to switch to roaches :p

I've only seen a few of the portable ones, and they had ducts going to a window for exhaust.

As far as noise from crix, you could just buy them a lil younger, say 4 weeks old. Then they don't die off as quickly and don't have wings for a couple weeks. That's what I do.

I bought a portable a/c unit and tried the whole keeping it in the room without a exaust out the window and it heats it up more. It blows more air out then in. So you will need a window to vent.

I use swamp coolers and love em'!

They just run water behind the fan which cools down the air and also ads humidity. I was lucky enough to go to home depot last year at the start of winter and they had them for dirt cheap so that they didnt have to store them durring the winter!!

Thanks Erik

A swamp cooler would work great for a storage or industrial, but considering insurance does not cover mold damage I would never try one in an apartment closet...in the news "Reptile keeper dies of black mold, RIP Shane...then his girl gets sued by apartment owners for mold remediation" :p

LOL...

Mine is just like that one you posted Erik. But doesn't have any water.

Mine just has a four inch round hose that you stick out the window with some foam stuff that kind of seals the window so no heat from outside gets in.
