Hi, I acquired a Henklie three months ago. He was at a pet store of all places!! Was being kept at around 80-85 and they had a heat lamp on him!! Don't know how he survived but I took him in and have been caring for him.

I was told he is around 7 years of age.

I got him up to a really nice and fat weight, now he has completely dropped the weight again.

Could it be that he is to old? What, or how old are your Henklie?

He is feeding on crix and roaches, has a waterfall, and is misted three times a day. I even have a VERY low watt UVB bulb on him. He is kept between 70-75 (70 at night).

Here is an older pic of him:

Hi there!
I got a group of Henkelis a couple of months ago, have layed 6 eggs so far.
Well the age then!
The guy who had them before me held them for about 2.5 years and the guy before him about the same.
So I'm guessing my Henkelis are about 5 or 6 years old.
I'v heard that they get to an age of about 10-15 years or more..
Don't know if it's 100% accurat but.
Most Geckos live long lives comparing to other animals with similar size.

I looked through a copy of a Uroplatus gecko book (couldn't swing the $100 for it) and it said that most of the these animals in captivity only live to 6 or 7 years old, with a few living less than that. I don't know what they are basing this on, but if this guy has researched the species this in depth, I can't see him being too far off on the life span of the animals.
