AFT substrate

What would be the best substrate for a AFT in a naturalistic vivarium. I currently have my son's AFT on peat moss, soil grade peat moss and eco earth. On the humid side I have a base of slate tile over desert sand to help spread the heat. I am looking for suggestions on whats to use and how to heat it. The set up I have now is about 1" to an 1.25" thick. I am using two 10-20 gallon UTH bulb and a clamp light with a 50w in a 20g long tank with no top to keep the substrate close to thr right temps. I also have a Leopard gecko on sslate only and he is doing great. Every care sheet I have read said use the soil combination listed above.

Is the Exo Terra rain forest UTH better for loose substrates.

The AFT is an adult.

I use a mixture of playsand and cocopeat (coconut fiber). It looks natural and is easy to work with.
