What kind of snake?

My dad was walking outside today and found this little snake in the road in front of our house. He thought it was dead at first but when he saw its tail move some he picked it up and brought it inside. It was half frozen and out in the middle of the road so we didnt want it to die. I have it in a pet carrier right now. Its very small. About the thickness of a small pencil and not even a foot long. Does anyone have any idea what kind of snake it is? I live in Tennessee.

yeah, it's a dekay's snake. if you can get safe earthworms you will probably have luck with it.

Ah are they poisonious? Cause I dont know anything about Dekay snakes.

Sorry pet-peve of mine. No snake is poisonous unless you lick it, or rub it agaist your eyes or over a wound. Snakes are venomous, as they have to inject you with venom with fangs. Frogs are poisonous, because you have to lick them, or rub your eyes after holding them.

^lol i got chewed once back in the day for that by another herper, i know better than to say that now. but working at a pet store, i definitely have to correct people all the time.

but man, i love my lil dekays! it's not like i keep them, but they're real common around my parents' house and i just love it when i come across these lil guys.
