New Phelsuma housing...

Have had the cages (ExoTerra 12 12 18's) for a couple weeks now, was just waiting on the tree fern panels to arrive... and they did today! Got my epi's mounted, the terrestrial plants planted and the orchids temporarily placed. Have to get some glass to seal off some of the screen and get the distilled water in the mister before I go any further with these... I am waging war on hard water spots! Future inhabitants will be 1.1 P. quadriocellata in one and 1.1 of another small TBA Phelsuma species in the other. Let's all see how long it takes me to kill off the plants this time!

Final plans call for a rack of nine of them, with nine species of Phelsuma, halogen heat lighting and an automatic misting system. Hopefully will have it all done by the end of April very latest, February earliest.

wow gorgeous set up. good luck with your rhac plan, and the Phelsuma species. I am a huge fan of quads, and you should consider lineata, klemmeri, or other small species. I sure love my klemmeri!

Thanks for the compliment on the set-up's! Hopefully the plants do well in there.

I like lineata, klemmeri, laticauda, all of them, really. Hopefully I will be able to get ahold of some of the rarer ones as well, eventually.

Yup, I used to have them and miss having them around.

beautiful. can you tell me what species of orchid that is, and some guides to their care? i have never been able to find a species that survives particularly well in high humidity here.

They are a dendrobium species... I picked them up since they were on sale. Not sure how they are going to do long term, but I will try and post pics on a monthly basis for those interested.

Those setups are not only very beautiful, but functional as well. It looks like your Phelsuma will thrive in there and all their needs will be exceeded. The horizontal bamboo under the lights gets a big "thumbs up" from me.

Very Nice!

Here are some pics of my exoterras (and other people's caging) from a previous thread. You'll have to scroll down a bit to see mine.

BTW - since you guys were talking about laticauda, I have a 1.1 pair (female is gravid) on the loose in my house! Peter, this is intended to make you feel better about that female klemmeri. It should. :)

Something has to take care of all the crickets on the loose.

I feed all the spiders I find in the house to my Panther Chameleon

.

See, I just leave all the spiders to keep down on the escaped crickets, and keep my geckos in their cages, lol.

Thanks for the compliments on the cages! Can't wait to put some geckos in them!

What are you keeping in the 12 12 12 Exo Terras?
