Warrumbungle NP -- Strophurus williamsi

Eastern Spiny-tailed Geckos (Strophurus williamsi) were abundant in the Warrumbungles. We saw many on the road and soon did not bother counting any longer. Although the night was warm, the geckos seemed to be soaking up the warmth from the surface of the road. They lay with their bodies tightly pressed against the road and they did not usually move as we drove past them.

We only saw spiny-tails on the road and did not find any when walking through the forest.

The geckos varied a little in pattern.
