Matthias is right. Usually when they eat eggs they are not fertilized. Alternately, I'm almost certain they can sense if an egg is not going to make it, and can time when the eggs should hatch accurately. My little phelsuma girl ate her egg 1 day before it was due to hatch, and i could see that it was a dud, probably my fault.
It is however possible, that the gecko just wanted some eggnog. haha.
Here is a picture of my Gehyra marginata egg just after it hatched and the egg below the screen hatched 2 days after- All of my eggs have been perfectly round with a hard calcium shell- 6 of my current 8 have been buried in soil- the first two were laid on top of the soil- I keep 1.2 in the same enclosure and they don't seem to be interested in eating fertile eggs- I would have to believe thay may have been slugs. Did you see any reminants of a hard shell? I have never found slugs in my tanks so either all eggs were fertilized or they incurred the same fate as yours. I can say the hatchlings are incredible- from the point I pulled them out of the incubator they have been vocalizing- Took almost 100 days to hatch- It absolutely felt like forever -Best regards-Baker
