Lighting my vivs

I am looking to light my lizards/snakes vivs as at the mo they are not getting very much natural light and I have noticed that the leos and fat-tails in particular are llooking quite dull.

So as they are all nocturnal/crepuscular species, I am not looking for light of the uv kind and I al also not looking for lots of light either. Just enough that they feel comfortable and when I am working in the vivs I can see better what I am doing.

Now also bearing in mind I have an awful lot of plugs behind my vivs and I don't really wanna go adding another 9 to the electrical circuit, it was suggested to me to stick the battery operated strip lights in, I hope you know what I mean. They are usually used under kitchen wall units.

Any other suggestions would be great cos they do all look a bit miserable, ta

I actually don't use lighting on them, but they get some light from windows and nearby tanks.

If you want to boost the colors slightly try feeding them insects gutloaded with plants high in beta carotienes like carrots and squash.

I know its probs not exactly what you had in mind but I have reduced my plug nightmare by switching all my gecks to heating with bulbs on dimmer stats. Reduces number of plugs and provides a good day/night cycle of light andheat.

If thats to much for you i guess the strip lights could work, but the dullness isnt linked to lack of lighting.

I use, for all my geckos, simple spot lights for light and heating. It allows the animals to choose between a warm and colder spot. Especially during the breeding season female fat tails often choose a warm spot during the day.
